08 Ocak 2021

The meeting of the TOBB Assembly on Cement and Cement Products of Turkey was held online on 28 September 2020, with the agenda of Overall Sector Assessment in the COVID-19 process. Giving the opening speech in the meeting, Dr. Tamer Saka, President of the TOBB Assembly on Cement and Cement Products of Turkey, shared the latest figures of the sector with the attendees. Expressing that the fact that negative impacts of the pandemic started to be felt in our country has reflections on our sector, Saka said, “The interruptions in the domestic supply chain, the decline in the amount of domestic demand, the decreases in export revenues due to foreign order cancellations, and resulting contractions in production capacities became its negative impacts felt in our sector. In spite of it, we, as the sector, performed well. Our sector is the largest cement sector of Europe and sixth largest in the world. We rank second in exports. We can occupy a position as the world's largest exporter, with the exports we will perform this year." In his assessment of the sector during the pandemic period, Saka said, “Our sector has also become one of the sectors that has performed well in the case of employee health that is the severest risk during the pandemic period. We will continue our work without compromising the precautions in this issue, by means of safeguarding the primary priority of the occupational health and safety of our employees."
